81st Academy Awards
These are my picks so far for the Academy Awards. I still have yet to go through and watch a few of the nominees such as Milk, Frost/Nixon, The Reader, and Vicki Christina Barcelona, but i will get to them and update it.
Actor in leading role: Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler. The way he portrayed an over the hill wrestler was extremely moving. The drugs, the strip clubs, the past memories of fame, the sadness just hit me deep. Mickey was born to play this role, without him this movie has very little emotion and doesn't get the pathetic, low life 80's wrestler.
Actor in Supporting Role: Heath Ledger, The Joker in The Dark Knight. Everyone knows the genius he put into the crazy yet comical joker. Hopefully a no-brainer for the Academy Award.
Directing/Best Picture:Slumdog Millionaire. Such an amazing story, very well directed, i was on the edge of my seat the whole movie. After viewing it i really felt moved.
Visual Effects: The Dark Knight. from the start of the movie to the end the effects blew me away.
Actress in a Supporting Role: Penelope Cruz, Vicky Christina Barcelona. With Penelope playing the ex-wife of a desirable man, she shows her capability to play a lovable sweetheart and then in a flash, play the other side of the spectrum as a woman full of anger and hate. also she looks super sexy in this movie.

Lil Wayne doing a rock album?
-I am kinda excited to hear this album. he has some pretty crazy good lyrics but combined with a guitar and drums...this could smell success or total failure. very intriguing.

NFG
I just listened to the "brand new" new found glory single on myspace entitled, "Listen to your Friends". i was not impressed to say the least. it sounds like every other song they have released for the past eleven years. dont get my wrong i like a few songs, and i enjoy the cover albums but other than that...not a fan. i dont think im even going to check out the new album. im ten times for excited for the "new" Brand New album.
